For almost 100 years NRF has been a leading manufacturer and supplier of cooling products and solutions for the automotive aftermarket, marine, railway and industrial sectors. NRF was originally known for manufacturing radiators, but today it supplies a wide range of more than 11.000 engine cooling and climate control parts. And now, NRF has gone beyond cooling with the latest introduction of sensors. In our large development and testing facilities, we constantly ensure that you receive the highest quality products.

Due to our strategically located warehouses and customer service centers, we are a global aftermarket player, but a local partner. You can expect a high level of service from us and we speak your language. Every day, NRF products go to customers in more than 80 countries worldwide.

BOX COOLERS

Box coolers ships
The box cooler, invented by NRF in 1959, is an effective, environmentally-friendly device, which requires little maintenance. It cools better than other makes under all conditions and gives years of problem-free performance..

Boxcooler
In addition, it is compact and easy to install. This is why countless shipyards, ship builders, ship brokers, repair yards, ship owners and private owners rely on box coolers from NRF. NRF responds to an ever-changing market demand, by introducing two modified designs of the box cooler:

Build Under (also known as “Bottom Pull”)
The widening of the application of box coolers, where increasingly larger box coolers are being used on an expanding range of ship types, brings up the need of an assembly form where in the cooler is not installed from within the engine room but from outside of the hull. The great advantage of this form of assembling is that the cooler no longer needs to be carried through the engine room and can be installed just for launching.

Integrated ICAF
Due to the increasing pressure to reduce costs and to prevent possible installation errors, NRF has developed a range of box coolers in which the anti-fouling (ICAF) is integrated on the cooler, resulting in a rapid and efficient assembly. To keep the cooler dimensions within the standard range, NRF has chosen to retain the cable from the anode through the beam and the water box.

BOX COOLER (TOP BUILD)

You can find an NRF box cooler for your vessel ranging from 5m to 200m, ocean going: Commercial, offshore, dredging, tug & salvage, or fishing. Also find for your inland waterway vessels: Commercial (container, dry cargo, tankers etc.), cruise or harbor tug. With power ranges from 10kW to 2500kW.

Standard top-down box cooler
The top-down design is the original based on the installation from the inside of the engine room. It is mounted downwards through the top deck into the sea chest. NRF offers a coated version (for sea water application) and bare versions (for river going or inland application).

For seagoing use, NRF can complete this box cooler with an ICAF (impressed current anti fouling) system. This anti fouling system prevents fouling in between the docking periods.

BOX COOLER (BOTTOM BUILD)

You can find an NRF box cooler for your vessel ranging from 5m to 200m, ocean going: Commercial, offshore, dredging, tug & salvage, or fishing. Also for your inland waterway vessels: Commercial (container, dry cargo, tankers etc.), cruise or harbor tug. With power ranges from 10kW to 2500kW.

Outside mounting box cooler

Depending on the ship, a larger box cooler might be needed which brings up the need for an assembly form where the cooler is not installed from within the engine room but from outside of the hull. The Bottom-Build box cooler is the best solution for fully equipped engine rooms where transport of these coolers inside the engine room is not a viable option.

Our Bottom-Build box cooler is designed for easy removal from the sea chests in case of maintenance and inspection. This can be done whilst the ship is still afloat.
